Today was a day of family visiting, birthday celebrating and FOOD....So, So much FOOD...everyone started digging in before I could get the picture taken!!
Sausage, Peppers, Onions and Potatoes, Stuffed Shells, Meatballs and sauce (gravy for you out there that are italian) Chicken Piccata, Rice, Shrimp Scampi, green salad, fruit salad and bread. My camera batteries died before dessert....BUT....there was birthday cake (homemade strawbery shortcake with fresh whip cream), homemade cheesecake, blueberry crumb pie, apple pie and assorted italian cookies.
You are probably asking yourself, "how the hell did you eat only 10 bites"?? Being we were there from lunch through dinner...I can not lie - I had about 18 bites.
Breakfast: water, lemon zinger tea
Lunch: 3 bites green salad, 3 bites buttered bread, 3 bites sausage, peppers, onions, potatoes, 2 bites stuffed shell (1 full shell)
Dinner: (actually dessert) 4 bites cheesecake, 3 bites bithday cake (less strawberries)
Considering how much more damage I could have done - 8 bites over for the day not too bad. The biggest problem in all of this, as with any get together with friends and family, you are so busy talking and having a good time it's easy to lose touch with how much you are either picking at or stuffing into your mouth during the laughs and conversation. There is no switch that turns on and says "Okay - you have reached your limit" until of course, it's too late and your stomach is starting to protest.
I am not over full - I do not think 8 bites extra would have done that anyway - but I am more full than I have been at this time of day.
It was a wonderful day with great conversation and catching up. I hope your weekend was filled with laughter and happiness!
Tomorrow is another day, a new diet and a another week to reach for our goals!
