This diet was going really well and the food has been filling....UNTIL TODAY. I was pretty pleased that I haven't been hungry....UNTIL TODAY.
Dinner provided the least amount of food so far. I am okay with a lighter breakfast but for dinner there should be some substance. Celery, tomato and an Orange - not quite what you would call dinner.
Breakfast: Went with the tea again and a slice of white toast
Lunch: 2 Hard Boiled Eggs, 3 oz Boars Head low sodium ham, about 2 cups mixed green salad with oil and lemon juice, salt & pepper to taste.
Dinner:Boiled celery, 1 fairly large tomato, 1 orange, salt & pepper to taste for the celery & tomato
Okay, I forgot to take a picture of dinner, I got caught up in talking about what bridges are open and all the garbage put out on the road from the flood - BUT....just imagine about 5 completely limp pale green celery stalks laying on your plate. Yes, I boiled them, I don't know what I was thinking about how they would taste, but boiled celery is not on the top of my "WANT TO DO AGAIN" list. It was a mushy, stringy mess. The texture a complete turn off. Tomorrow looks a little light too - but at least it's not boiled celery!
Sometimes we forget why we started a diet or need a little help and/or guidance to get back on a diet. I put together a helpful little list of things that are beneficial to me when I have started or faltered on a diet - sometimes just the basics and a little common sense can re-motivate you!
Tape a picture of your skinny self to the refrigerator for inspiration. Remind yourself what you can look like.
Tape a picture of your fat self to the refrigerator for motivation. Remind yourself what you don't want to look like.
Brush your teeth, floss, gargle, or chew a stick of gum immediately after your meal to stop yourself from eating more
Take a shower or bath when a food craving strikes. It will relax you, and keep your whole body occupied and out of trouble (i.e., the kitchen) until the craving fades.
Phone a friend when a food craving strikes. Call from a phone outside the kitchen, and stay on until the craving fades.
Chew sugarless gum while you prepare meals. It'll keep you from tasting (eating) that extra serving’s worth.
Drink a tall glass of water before every meal. It’s a healthy way to quench your hunger.
Fill your sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, sprouts, cucumber slices, bell peppers, and other fresh veggies. Along with the bigger crunch, you'll get a bigger sandwich with few additional calories and no extra fat.
Work for your snacks. Before you eat a high-calorie snack, clean the bathroom or vacuum the house. Don't eat until the cleaning is complete.
Computer-enhance a photo of yourself to see how great you'll look when you're slim. Skip liposuction: Today’s computer technology lets you delete double chins and narrow your waistline with the touch of a keystroke. Print out a copy and keep it in your wallet (so when you grab $$ for food - it's a reminder) or on your refrigerator.
Have your teeth cleaned professionally and whitened. You don't want to dirty that gorgeous mouth with “bad” food.
Give yourself a manicure when a craving strikes, applying extra layers of slow-drying nail polish. It will keep your hands occupied and out of trouble until the craving fades.
Smash your trash. When you throw food away, thoroughly bury it under more trash so there will be absolutely no question of changing your mind. No need to explain.
I hope your day went well and you are making strides in your exercise and healthy eating plans. It's easy to get discouraged if the scale doesn't move quick enough, too many bb-q's or parties, or running around for last minute things for the kids for school have you grabbing fast food on the road or in the mall. Don't be so hard on yourself. Do the best you can, you know what you want for yourself and life will get in the way.
Live your life, don't let your diet run your life. You gained the weight and you are going to lose the weight. Once you lose the weight, it will become a way of life to keep it off. Come to terms with it and you will stress less and be able to concentrate on you more!
Have a SUPER night!
